It was announced that a defibrillator has been purchased for community use. Funding for the item and training in its use has been provided by Seaview Regatta Committee and Thursday Mermaid Sailors. The equipment will be kept at Sea View Yacht Club and they have also agreed to pay the annual maintenance costs. Many complaints have been received relating to the new system of household waste collection introduced by Isle of Wight Council and it was agreed to conduct a review in September.

Planning matters discussed included yet another revised application on the land adjacent to The Old Boathouse in Pier Road, this time for six dwellings. Members agreed to object to the application on the grounds of overdevelopment and to suggest that a more sensitive treatment of this area adjacent to a grade 2 listed building is required. It was also agreed to object to the application for a balcony at 2 and 4a, Ship House, Pier Road as it was considered to affect the privacy of neighbouring properties. Concern was also expressed about plans to alter the junction of Eddington Road with Attrills Lane, alterations which would allow traffic access from and possibly to Field Lane Holiday Park in St Helens.

Members agreed to support local MP Andrew Turner in his efforts to preserve the integrity of the Isle of Wight constituency.

Members agreed to provide Victim Support and the Isle of Wight Musical competition Festival with grants of £50.00 each.

As there is no Parish Council meeting in August, the next one will take place on Monday13th September in St. Peter’s Hall commencing at 7.00pm.
