Residents are reminded that it is essential to support these and other local businesses at all times, but particularly during this difficult period.
Thanks also go to The P.C.C. of St. Peter’s, Nettlestone & Seaview Community Partnership and one resident. Without this support, it is likely that the Parish Council would have to consider reducing the number of trees.
Isle of Wight Police are to hold a ‘Beat Surgery’ for Nettlestone and Seaview on
the 23rd February. The mobile police office will be in the car park of The
Roadside Inn from 3.00pm until 7.00pm when the aim will be to discuss with residents the priorities for the coming year. Please attend and offer your suggestions or raise any matter that is causing concern.
A precept of £29,540 for the year 2010/2011 has been unanimously approved. This represents an increase of £5,525 (23.00%) on the current financial year. This increase is necessary for several reasons, the first of which is Isle of Wight Council’s withdrawal of financial support for grounds and churchyard maintenance and the transfer of the cost of all elections to Parish Councils. Maintenance costs have been increased following the long term lease of Eddington Road Play Area, a lease which will protect the playground. A sum of £1,000 has also been included to cover any costs resulting from the proposed transfer of responsibility for Sandlands Allotments. Over the last four years, reserves have been used to retain annual increases at an average of 1.20% but these reserves are now almost exhausted. The annual cost for a band D property will be £17.39 (33.44p per week) and remains the lowest in East Wight.
